Membership at Old Charlie: How it Works

Old Charlie combines the best things about public golf (you only pay for what you play) and private golf (great amenities, consistently great conditions, fewer restrictions, smaller crowds) into something completely unique and many ways better than both of those options. Think of it as a vacation club, but for golf trips. Reserve your spot(s) just once, and enjoy it every year for as long as you want.

Here’s how it works:

1. PLANNING YOUR ANNUAL TRIP(s)

The first step to joining Old Charlie is deciding when you’ll come, how long you’re staying, and who is coming with you. You can plan one trip a year or multiple visits, and you can come alone or bring a crowd.

  1. Choose when you’ll play: Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall

  2. Choose your preferred time of week: Weekdays are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Weekend are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

  3. Decide who’s coming along. Reservations are required for all players at Old Charlie. You can bring guests, but only if you have spots reserved for them. Reservations can be assigned to new folks each year, and you can even assign someone else to your own reservation if you’re unable to make it out.

Notes:

  • See below for example scenarios we see most often.

  • You’ll share the course with a maximum of just 71 other players on your reserved play day.

  • Course conditions will be seasonally appropriate and consistently excellent. Old Charlie will never be open during aeration periods (aeration + healing) or during other maintenance events that might impact the quality of the golf experience.

2. SECURING YOUR RESERVATION(s)

Once you’ve decided on your reservations, you’ll pay a one time initiation fee to secure them. Once you’ve done so, the reservation(s) are yours for life.

  • Pricing varies by season and time of week. See details here.

  • There are no guests, in the traditional sense, at Old Charlie. All players must be assigned to a specific reservation. The players assigned to each reservation can change from year to year, making membership extremely flexible.

3. PAYING for GOLF​

Our play fee is $150 per reservation. It covers unlimited golf on your designated play date(s). Carts, if you care to use them, are covered with your play fee.

Notes:

  • For Goat Track Society members, play fees are included for the first year.

  • Play fees may go up year to year due to inflation, but will never be raised by more than 5% in a single year.

4. SELECTING the DATE(s) of YOUR VISIT​

Play dates will be selected by season. Date selection emails will be sent to members approximately six months prior to season opening and we expect to have a complete calendar at least four months prior to each season so you have plenty of time to plan and secure lodging.

Date selection priority is based on number of reservations purchased first, and then by initiation fee purchase time-stamp. All members of the Goat Track Society, regardless of the number or reservations purchased, will get priority ahead of other membership categories.

  • Our capacity is capped at 72, so you’ll share the course with a maximum of just 71 other players on your reserved play day, regardless of season or time of week.

  • There are no guests, in the traditional sense, at Old Charlie. All players must be assigned to a specific reservation. The players assigned to each reservation can change from year to year, making membership extremely flexible.

Reservation Scenarios

Scenario 1: Solo Pilgrimage

A solo player wants to visit Old Charlie once per year. Assuming a winter weekend:

1 Player x 1 Days: 1 reservation to purchase for 1 round per year

One-time Initiation (due at sign up): $1,000 after discounts (see discounts below)

Savings: GTS exclusive pricing for a savings of $200

Important Note: Active duty and retired military receive 10% off if they purchase a single reservation. Multiple reservations get the savings outlined below, but not an additional 10% off.

Scenario 2: Buddies’ Trip with Four Players

A group of four friends wants to spend a weekend (2 weekend days) at Old Charlie each year. Assuming a 2-day winter weekend:

4 Players x 2 Days: 8 reservations for 2 annual rounds per player (if paying separately)

One-time Initiation (due at sign up): $6,000 or $1,500 per player after discounts (see discounts below)

Savings: 4x volume discount of 25% off total ($2,000) and GTS exclusive pricing ($1,600) for a total savings of $3,600 total or $900 per player

Important Note: Our store allows groups to split the total bill. The group leader can pay for his or her reservations and invoice the other folks in the group.

Scenario 3: Player plus Three Guests

A single player wants to bring (and pay for) 3 guests to play over a two-day winter weekend each year.

4 Players x 2 Days: 8 reservations to purchase for 8 rounds per year

One-time Initiation (due at sign up): $6,000 after discounts (includes discounts below)

Savings: 4x volume discount of 25% off total ($2,000) and GTS exclusive pricing ($1,600) for a savings of $3,600 total

Important Note: Reservation assignments can change each year, so the member in this scenario can bring new guests each year and can even send another player in his place if he wants or needs to do so.

Scenario 4: The Group Purchase

A large group of friends (40 total) agree that a smaller group (8) will visit each year. The group splits the initiation fee amongst themselves and different group members come every year. Assume a 2-day weekend in winter:

4 Players x 2 Days: 8 reservations to purchase for 8 rounds per year

One-time Initiation (due at sign up): $6,000 or $150 per player after discounts (includes discounts below)

Savings: 4x volume discount of 25% off total ($2,000) and GTS exclusive pricing ($1,600) for a savings of $3,600 total

Important Notes:

  • Groups this large can’t split the bill via our storefront, so for a scenario like this you’ll need a designated primary member

  • This is an excellent option for work colleagues, church groups, or as an annual prize for fantasy leagues and other larger groups

  • The welcome kit and some other perks (golf hole design contest, construction tours, etc.) are based on number of reservations purchased (8 in this example). Large groups will have to decide amongst themselves who gets these benefits

Membership Terms and Additional Details

Membership Duration:​

  • Paid initiation includes lifetime membership with annual dues (play fee) structure

Transfer Provision:

  • One-time transfer option available exclusively for GTS members only after Old Charlie has been open for one full calendar year. See membership benefits.

Resignation Policy:

  • Accepted in writing with at least 30 days’ notice

  • Initiation fees non-refundable except under certain circumstances (see T&Cs for details)

  • Annual dues (play fees) refund policy:

    • Full refund if resignation occurs before scheduled reservation date

    • No refund if resignation occurs after scheduled reservation date

Goat Track Hill Guests:

Guests are allowed to join our members for food, drinks, and camaraderie at Goat Track Hill. Please note that all golfers must have a reservation to play the golf course.

Forthcoming Policies

The following items will be clarified in detail prior to opening:

  • Comprehensive community standards and etiquette. We have very few rules: take care of the course and be courteous to your fellow players and staff and that’s about it. No dress codes or tucked in shirts in the clubhouse or anything like that. General guidelines will be provided closer to opening day.

  • Food and beverage operations. We’ll have a fully stocked grill for food and beverages. Actual menu items and additional facilities are TBD.
